The golden opportunity came when eight military squad members from six of MOA’s “Islamic villages” signed up for bodyguard classes held at a private facility in Virginia. They all purported to be employees of White Hawk Security International. They signed up for a series of classes, including ones for unarmed guards and instruction on arrest authority and entry-level firearms training (though their performance was far from entry-level). Abdelaziz joined the squad members and signed up for a firearms class. He passed along detailed information, pictures and documents to the authorities. Below is the enrollment photo taken of Abdelaziz, exclusively obtained by Ryan Mauro…

13. White Hawk Abdelaziz had an opportunity to infiltrate the military squad by becoming involved with one of its key fronts: White Hawk Security International Inc. The name was inspired by the spiritual significance of white hawks in Sufi Islamic teachings. A former MOA member said, “Whenever there was something resembling a white around around, people would stare and say it was Sheikh Gilani visiting.” White Hawk Security International (WHSI) was based out of a secretive, well-armed commune in Meherrin, Virginia that many MOA members didn’t even know existed. From its very beginning, MOA has formed security companies as fronts as part of…

12. MOA’s “Military Squad” Raises Alarm Ali Abdelaziz told Mawyer that MOA had decided to make its training more exclusive. The “mass military training” would be replaced with more exclusive training of those selected for a “military squad.” He explained: “It’s like a formed military squad. It’s certain groups. Certain individuals. Certain names. Certain guys. It’s a very, very select group they have. It’s a lot of people. But it’s not like they train every day. It’s various people training in different positions…” He said “there’s a lot…a lot” of MOA tapes about its guerilla warfare training. And, “I gave…

11. Mission: MOA’s Islamic Political Party of America One of Abdelaziz’s key objectives was to gather intelligence on a supposedly “independent” political party that was actually a front for MOA named the Islamic Political Party of America (IPPA). Officials involved in the front would meet in his apartment in Binghamton, which the NYPD covertly paid for. Although the IPPA publicly said its headquarters was in Charlotte, North Carolina, it was overseen by a top MOA official from the “Islamville” compound in South Carolina. That official, the now-deceased Atiq Shahid, was a “best friend” of Sheikh Gilani’s, and spent months in Pakistan with him…

10. Wedding at Islamberg Ali Abdelaziz’s effort to gain access went so far as to marry an underage girl at Islamberg. Arranged and underage marriages had a long history within MOA, with Sheikh Gilani setting the example by marrying an American teenager. In 2005, Abdelaziz married Hajra Abdullah-Simonds, also known as “Fatima.” Her father and brother were high-ranking MOA officials at Islamberg. A source who was at the wedding says that Sheikh Gilani approved of the marriage. Abdelaziz was seen talking on the phone who the source understood to be Sheikh Gilani himself. Former MOA members explained that Gilani saw…

Ali Abdelaziz was an informant for the NYPD and FBI for seven years, from 2003 to 2010. Two of those years were spent living at MOA’s “Islamberg” headquarters in Hancock, New York. The NYPD codenamed him “Dolphin,” inspired by the sound of his voice, and the FBI codenamed him “Tap Out,” referring to his submission losses when he competed. Abdelaziz described to Mawyer how the authorities approached him in jail. Per his account, someone from Washington D.C. came to see him and required him to take a polygraph to become an informant. He was asked about his activities, his intentions and his…

8. MOA Raises National Security Alarm Bells Abdelaziz’s service as an informant came at a time when MOA’s history and ongoing activities were setting off alarm bells within the U.S. government, especially after the 9/11 attacks. Few, if any, terrorist organizations are as well-positioned in America as MOA. MOA is the only Islamist extremist group with a network of remote “Islamic villages” across the U.S., such as its 70-acre “Islamberg” compound in upstate New York. In recent years, MOA has put the number of “villages” it has at 22. It has between 1,500 and 3,000 members. The majority are cultishly…

The Colorado Springs Police Department documents show that an arrest warrant for Ali Abdelaziz was issued on August 10, 2011 He was arrested on December 18, 2001 after he re-entered the U.S. using the identity of Robert Earl Britton and hid as a fugitive. Below is his booking photo: According to the Bureau of Prisons, Alaa Ragb Abdel Aziz was housed at the Federal Correctional Institution Englewood in Littleton, Colorado from July 24, 2002 to April 30, 2003. Right after being arrested, he told the authorities that he is an Olympic champion in judo. He said that the Egyptian government federation was sponsoring his stay in the…

6. The Strange 9/11 Coincidence One of the enduring mysteries (or strangely odd coincidences) of Ali Abdelaziz’s story is the revelation from Russell that Abdelaziz originally booked tickets to fly back to the U.S., from Cairo to New York, on September 11, 2001. The flight was booked using the name of Robert Britton. The flight was cancelled due to the attacks. Shockingly, he claims the FBI had no knowledge of Ali Abdelaziz’s 9/11 flight using a false passport when they recruited him as a confidential informant. This odd coincidence was peculiarly left out of the story Abdelaziz told Mawyer. All he said…
